Consent Committee Online Presentation

Hello Lovely Souls!

Nowhere’s Consent Committee is inviting the Nowhere community to join us for an online presentation of the Consent Committee principles and protocols. Three members of the committee (KreveTTe, Tamara and Daniel) will present details of how Consent Committee works, such as:

  • our yearly timeline (as we are mostly active in between events),
  • the step-by-step process,
  • the structure of an agreement, which is the ideal outcome of the process,

and we will finish with a Q&A where you will have a chance to ask questions.

The Consent Committee’s mission is to protect our community from abusive behavior as outlined in the Participant Code of Conduct and to ensure the community’s ability to hold future events. The Consent Committee is a group of volunteers from the community who are active between events to facilitate conversations with people who have been identified in consent violation reports, and advise Nowhere on how to proceed.

We start with the belief that most people want to do the right thing, and our primary goal is to help people to understand how to improve. In what we hope will be rare cases, we may recommend that someone is not invited to attend Nowhere in the future.

The Consent Committee also monitors the agreements made with the people involved during the following event, and are committed to giving them a real opportunity to demonstrate they are able to learn and grow. Meanwhile, if during the following event another report is collected or one of the commitments is not respected, the person could be evicted.

Important Note: Considering the sensitivity of the topic, we remind you that the Participant Code of Conduct needs to be respected during this online meeting and that we take confidentiality seriously. All Consent Committee members have signed a confidentiality agreement, meaning that we won’t share any information about specific reports.
