Norg, a group of mostly volunteers co-creating Nowhere, is recruiting for an Accounts Manager.
This is a full time paid position , year round, on a contract basis .
PURPOSE/SUMMARY:
TheAccounts Manager (AM) is responsible for the day to day management of all finance activities of Nowhere. The AM is empowered to make decisions within agreed limits set by Directors and will work closely with Directors, Coordinators, and Metaleads.
This key role will help ensure we have a great event. They will be responsible for finance activities including budgets, financial processes,payroll functions and regulations and working with our Data Wizard to ensure NORG is financially accountable to our community,
Experience with accountancy processes in Spain, small business or event finance management is necessary. We really would love someone who is experienced in professional administration/accountancy and willing to get stuck in.

Tasks & Time Commitment
This is a paid position in a full time role, with varying levels of involvement depending on the season. It peaks in summer with required presence on site for six weeks, and has less activity during winter. After the first year, a collaborative review will be undertaken to assess the time commitment needed.
Monthly / regular tasks
- Monitor budget including notifying Directors of any risk areas.
- Provide Directors with regular status updates and attend monthly Directors meetings to report on current financial position.
- Maintain accounting software (Odoo) ensuring that all entries are made promptly and that the bank account is reconciled on a daily basis.
- Ensure that monthly bank and credit card statements are downloaded and catalogued on Drive. These must also be reconciled in the financial software system (Odoo) and shared with external accountants.
- Ensure all invoices received and raised are recorded and stored on Drive
- Ensure that all tax returns and annual accounts are filed correctly quarterly and annually in liaison with our assessors.
- Attend and occasionally lead Coordinators meetings
- Manage our payroll processes in line with Spanish employment regulations.
- Liaise with external partners including assessors, lawyers, accountants, and others.
- Participate in monthly MetaLead committee meetings a, giving updates to MetaLeads, Directors and Coordinators.
Pre-Event: January to June
- Manage the tickets team ensuring all processes, launch and timelines are met.
- Manage the Purchasing team to ensure equipment and materials for the annual event are procured in accordance with event production timelines. This includes liaising with all departments to determine needs and record requests.
- Ensure payment of services and fees including but not limited to insurance, permits, Red Cross, safe house rental, and on-site toilet maintenance
- Recruit and manage Leads and volunteers for finance functions including purchasing and on-site finance logistics.
- Ensure the leads in your department receive updates and information relevant to them carrying out their role. Support leads to resolve any issues and provide guidance
- Participate in any other planning meetings relevant to your role, including arranging and chairing Finance team meetings.
On-Site: June to July
- Ensure that all incoming and outgoing revenue is reported, suppliers are paid upon delivery of service, on-site cash is stored securely, and barrios reimburse any Nowhere spend on container/cabin transportation and that shared expenses are fairly divided
- Regularly check in with other Metaleads and act as the point of contact for your department as and when needed
- Participate in any on-site meetings relevant to your role
- Carry out any site management shift as agreed
Post event: August to December
- Work closely with the Metalead of each department to create budgets to be agreed by Directors
- Issue invoices to barrios and other service users
- Investigate ways to streamline finance and purchasing processes and identify opportunities for cost effective spending and ensuring value for money
- Participate in any all lead meetings for debriefing as required
- Work closely with Data Wizard to produce annual financial reports to present to the community after agreement with Directors.
- Work with the Creativity Department to ensure that art grant payments are recorded, processed and documented on Drive.
- Ensure that all outstanding invoices for equipment, services, and materials are paid and recorded
- Provide feedback and highlight any areas that may need review or improvement including the Post Nowhere Report
- Participate in the Annual Leads Meeting
- Able to assist and support with any other tasks related to the role.

Required Skills
- Clear understanding of Spanish finance and employment processes and regulations
- Strong organisational and people management skills
- 2 years of experience with accounting software
- Able to self-manage workload, flexible, problem solver, and adaptable to change.
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Be resident in Spain, able to work legally, and have an up-to-date full driving licence valid in Spain.
- Available to be in Barcelona or Huesca when required.
- Familiar with IT tools for collaboration including using Google Drive, Zoom, Slack/Mattermost, Excel and others.
- Able to commit to a full time role carried out mostly during Spanish business hours from August through May. Able to commit to working on-site, including some extraordinary hours during June and July.
- Available to attend evening meetings on a monthly basis.
- Familiarity with Nowhere or similar events such as Burning Man and regionals
