Role to be filled
Welfare | Operations Management
Year Round And On Site
PURPOSE/SUMMARY
Welfare Enough is a sober, calm tent for Nowhere participants who are overwhelmed, or simply want a cup of tea and a conversation with a listening ear. It is open 24/7 with a shift lead and volunteers (sometimes called “Welfairies”).
Since there are a lot of physical, logistical tasks which we need to stay on top of, we’re looking for someone to lead the setup of the Welfare tent, include interior layout design and volunteer management. With the lists of what Welfare owns, and an understanding of the space, you can use some creativity to design a welcoming space for those participants who need somewhere safe to rest for a while. You will be responsible for making your vision happen at the event, and keeping track of what items Welfare still owns during strike.
This role is in charge of operations for the space – so keeping track of our inventory, ensuring we don’t run out of any important items, ensuring the signage stays visible and clear throughout the event etc. You will also be in charge of the printed timetables for volunteers and maintaining the incident records. This is a year round role, and planning typically starts from January. The month before the event is usually the busiest, and after the event there are some wrap-up tasks before a lull until the cycle starts again.
